Economic Development Committee

The urgency of buying black and buying back our communities.

African Americans had 1.1 trillion dollars in buying power in 2015 according to the Neilson Research Firm. And despite our collective buying power, little of it stays in the black community. Another study revealed that other ethnicities spend money in their communities with their dollar remaining in their communities an average of 20 days versus the black community which is less than 6 hours.

This committee is dedicated to informing members of the African American community in Philadelphia of their buying power, opportunities for stimulus and the importance of supporting black owned businesses as a means for improvement and empowerment.
